I use colors and colored paper constantly in my biology classroom. Biology concepts are oftentimes very hard to understand and / or memorize. I learned a long time ago (through my own experience and that of my students, and research I read) that using color during instruction and activities can enhance memory of students while learning challenging concepts. Some of the concepts that I use with these activities include biomolecule structure and synthesis of polymers, DNA replication and transcription and translation DNA technology, photosynthesis and cellular respiration. I have included pictures of just a few of the activities I do with my students that utilize color to help them learn content.
